THE PRODUCT, EXPLAINED
Choose the thickness. Know the roll count.
Aerolite insulation sits above the ceiling to reduce heat transfer through the roof space. The Soft Touch range is glasswool supplied in compressed rolls that are unrolled for installation. Coverage varies with thickness, so a roll count only makes sense once you've selected the exact product size.
Coverage by product

Aerolite insulation: Sizes & specifications.
| Thickness | Roll dimensions | Coverage/roll | Material R-value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 135mm | 5 × 1.2m | 6m² | 3.38 |
| 100mm | 6 × 1.2m | 7.2m² | 2.50 |
| 50mm | 10 × 1.2m | 12m² | 1.14 |
Material R-values are in m²·K/W. Coverage is the nominal unrolled area per roll. Pack labels and the supplied product specification take precedence if the manufacturer changes its range.

Quantities are rounded up to whole boards, rolls or sheets. Allowances do not replace a checked cutting or installation plan. Openings and reusable offcuts are not automatically deducted. “Use this quantity” updates the product form only; it does not add anything to a cart or quote. The normal WooCommerce form checks price, stock and availability.
SPECIFY IT FOR THE SPACE
Choosing Aerolite insulation for your space.
135mm: plan with 6m² per roll
The 135mm Soft Touch roll is 5m long and 1.2m wide, with a published material R-value of 3.38. Select the 135mm product option above to calculate its roll quantity. Choose it when this product meets the project’s design requirement; the calculator estimates quantities and does not certify a roof assembly.100mm and 50mm have different coverage
A 100mm roll covers 7.2m², while a 50mm roll covers 12m². Using one generic “roll size” would substantially distort the order. A thinner roll might be part of a specified upgrade or layered arrangement, but don't assume a top-up is suitable until you've checked the condition and type of existing insulation.Fit the insulation, preserve the loft.
Glasswool performance depends on a suitable installation at the intended thickness. Avoid treating compressed material as though it were installed to its declared specification. Plan around roof access, cables, ventilation and heat-producing fittings. Aerolite insulation should be fitted with the manufacturer’s handling and clearance guidance, including appropriate protective equipment.Inspect before covering an existing ceiling.
Leaks, damaged ceilings, unsafe access and old or displaced insulation can all affect the work. Photograph the hatch and roof space if you can do so safely, and tell us about any known dampness. We can assess the installation requirements before covering the ceiling with a new layer of insulation.SUPPLY IT. OR LET US FIT IT.
The roof space matters as much as the floor plan.
Your house floor area is a useful starting point, but the area to insulate may exclude open patios, garages or unceiled spaces. Measure the ceiling footprint intended for the work. For a sloping insulation surface, use its actual surface area. If access is limited or the existing insulation needs attention, include that in your Aerolite insulation enquiry. BEFORE YOU ORDER
Aerolite insulation questions
How many rolls of Aerolite insulation do I need?
Divide the area, including your chosen allowance, by the coverage of the selected roll, then round up to a whole roll. For example, 100 m² with a 5% allowance needs 18 rolls of 135mm Soft Touch: 105 ÷ 6 = 17.5, rounded up to 18.What is the R-value of 50mm Aerolite?
The current Soft Touch product information and referenced technical sheet list 1.14 m²·K/W for 50mm, 2.50 for 100mm and 3.38 for 135mm. These are product material values, not the total thermal resistance of your roof. Can it go over an existing ceiling?
Often it can, provided there is suitable access, and the ceiling and roof space are in an appropriate condition. The route into the roof, fittings and any existing material must be assessed. A calculator cannot establish whether a particular roof space is safe to enter. Will it make the room soundproof?
Glasswool can contribute to sound absorption in an appropriate construction. It does not make an existing room soundproof by itself. Noise paths through doors, windows, walls and the ceiling assembly need to be considered together. Can I order only the rolls?
Yes. Ask for a supply quote with the thickness, roll quantity and delivery location. If you would like installation included, tell us about the roof access and area so we can quote the material and labour scope together.COMPLETE THE MATERIAL PLAN
