Create an extra bedroom, home office, walk-in cupboard, passage or storeroom. Lightweight partitions are useful for suitable internal renovations and garage conversions. We consider the layout, door positions, fixing requirements and privacy between adjoining rooms.
Divide working space into private offices, boardrooms, consulting rooms, reception areas and staff facilities. Drywalling also suits internal factory and warehouse offices. Electrical and data positions should be coordinated early to avoid cutting into the finished wall.
Cavity insulation can improve sound control and thermal separation where adjoining rooms have different uses. It must fit the stud depth and the wall specification. Consider it between bedrooms, workspaces and air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned areas.
Improve privacy in meeting rooms, bedrooms, guest accommodation and other noise-sensitive spaces. Sound reduction depends on framing, board mass, insulation, perimeter seals, doors and adjoining construction. We discuss the required privacy before choosing the wall build-up.
Where fire resistance is required, the wall must follow an appropriate manufacturer-tested system and the project specification. Framing, boards, layers, joints, openings and penetrations all contribute to performance. Confirm the required rating before installation starts.
Higher humidity, impact and wall-mounted loads may call for specialist boards, extra reinforcement or a different wall system. Moisture-resistant plasterboard is not waterproof. The complete construction and finish must suit how the room will be used.

The boards are the visible part. The quality of the finished wall starts with decisions made before boarding begins.
Steel stud width, gauge and spacing must suit the wall height and design. A straight framework and correct head and floor details support the completed partition and help limit unwanted movement.
Door and window openings need accurate setting out and suitable framing. Door loads and frame positions must be considered before boarding, particularly around high-use office entrances.
Plan backing for televisions, cupboards, shelving and other heavy fixtures while the frame is open. Adding hidden reinforcement later can mean cutting into and repairing a finished wall.
Select the board type, layers and cavity insulation for the intended use. Coordinate electrical, data and other services with the relevant trades before the second side of the wall is closed.
Taped joints, screw treatment, corners and the agreed surface finish all affect the result after painting. Allow the jointing materials to dry properly. Painting is included only when specified in the quotation.
Specify the performance you need
Tell us what the wall must achieve. That conversation helps determine the construction, rather than discovering its limitations after the rooms are in use.
Insulation helps, but doors, ceilings, board layers, perimeter seals and service openings also affect sound transfer. A meeting room or bedroom deserves more consideration than a basic visual divider.
Discuss the level of privacy you need. An ordinary partition should not be described as “soundproof”.
A fire rating applies to a specified wall assembly. Board choice alone is not enough: the frame, layers, fixings, joints and opening details must follow the selected system.
Confirm the required performance with the project’s designer or specification before the installation is priced.
Humidity, water exposure, daily impact and heavy fixtures influence board and system selection. Reinforcement can be planned for cupboards, televisions and shelving.
Moisture-resistant board does not replace waterproofing or a wall system suitable for the actual exposure.
Practical planning prevents common problems: an empty cavity where privacy matters, missing backing for heavy fixtures, unplanned service openings and a rushed jointing finish.

Good planning keeps the layout, services and wall specification aligned. Here is how a typical drywall installation comes together.
Share the location, room use, wall dimensions, plans and photographs. We establish privacy, fire, moisture and load requirements, with a site assessment where needed.
Agree the frame, boards, insulation, openings and finish. The scope should make inclusions and exclusions clear before work starts.
Mark the wall positions and openings, then install the tracks, studs and additional framing required for the selected construction.
Board the first side and coordinate planned electrical, data and other suitable services with the relevant trades.
Install the specified reinforcement and fit cavity insulation neatly where it forms part of the wall design.
Board the second side, treat joints, fixings and corners, and prepare the agreed finish with suitable drying time between stages.
Check the finished work against the agreed layout and scope. Confirm important service routes and reinforcement positions before fixtures are installed.

There is no single square-metre price that fits every drywall project in Cape Town. The frame, boards, insulation, openings and finish all change the cost. These are the details worth comparing.

Compare the complete scope. Check the wall construction, doors, insulation, finish and exclusions on each quotation. A lower initial rate may leave out work you still need. Painting should be included explicitly if required.

A basic storeroom partition and a specialist acoustic or fire-rated wall require different specifications. The programme depends on the size and complexity of the work. Multiple rooms, high partitions, door openings and specialist details take longer than a straightforward wall. Jointing materials also need drying time before final finishing and painting. We discuss timing when the scope is clear.
It can be, especially where reduced structural weight, fewer wet trades and faster layout changes are valuable. Specialist boards, insulation and additional board layers increase the cost. Compare the complete wall construction and required performance rather than assuming every drywall partition is cheaper.
A correctly specified internal, non-load-bearing partition is suitable for many residential uses. The frame, boards, wall height, openings and fixings must suit the application. Areas exposed to frequent impact may need a more durable specification.
The fixing method must suit the load and the wall construction. Heavy fixtures may need backing or reinforcement inside the frame. Give us their positions before boarding so the appropriate support can be planned. Do not assume an ordinary plasterboard fixing is suitable for every load.

The insulation must suit the available cavity depth and the selected wall system. A simple storeroom may have different requirements.

Overall thickness depends on the stud width and the thickness and number of plasterboard layers on both sides. Wall height, rigidity, sound privacy, fire requirements and available floor space guide the choice. The selected construction should be identified in the quotation.
Yes, the cavity can accommodate suitable services. Socket, switch and cable positions must be coordinated with the relevant trades before the wall is closed. Openings in acoustic or fire-rated walls need the appropriate system detailing.
Fire resistance comes from the specified, tested wall assembly, including its framing, board type and layers, fixings, joints and opening details. Fire-resistant board alone does not establish a wall rating. Required performance must be confirmed from the project specification before installation.
Suitable moisture-resistant systems may be appropriate for some internal areas, but moisture-resistant board is not waterproof. Board selection, waterproofing, ventilation and finishes must match the exposure. Directly wet areas require a suitable complete system.
Suitable non-load-bearing partitions can often be altered. We first need to consider concealed services and any fire, acoustic or layout requirements. Tell us if removal, disposal and making good are required so these can be included in the agreed scope.
