Which thickness should you choose?

How this calculator estimates Isoboard ceiling boards
It uses 600 mm effective cover and one full-length board per strip. Automatic selection rounds up to a published planning length: 4.8, 5.4, 6, 6.6, 7.2 or 8 m. For 30, 40 and 50 mm boards, half-length options of 2.4, 2.7, 3, 3.3, 3.6 and 4 m are also considered. Availability still needs confirmation. If your supplier has confirmed a different length, enter that length instead.

Good decisions start with the details. Here are the questions to consider when planning your ceiling.
Can Isoboard be fitted below an existing ceiling?
In suitable circumstances, yes. The existing ceiling and its supports must be assessed before a retrofit is proposed. We check the condition, available height and fixing arrangement; an unsound ceiling or unresolved leak needs attention first.
Are Isoboard ceiling boards waterproof?
The closed-cell material has low water absorption, but the finished ceiling is not a roof waterproofing system. Repair roof leaks and investigate persistent damp or condensation before covering the area. Board joints and the supporting structure still need suitable detailing.
Will the boards soundproof my room?
Isoboard is primarily a thermal insulation product. On its own it should not be specified as a soundproofing solution. Tell us whether the problem is rain noise, voices or another source so the complete ceiling construction can be considered.
Can Isoboard ceiling boards be painted?
Yes. A suitable water-based coating can be used, with the surface prepared as recommended by the manufacturer. Painting should be planned for residential ceilings. Confirm the colour and whether painting is included when agreeing the installation scope.
Can you incorporate downlights and ceiling fans?
Lighting needs to be compatible with the ceiling system, with the required clearances and heat precautions. Heavy fittings and ceiling fans need support from the structure above, rather than the board alone. Discuss the layout with us and your electrician before installation.
Are Isoboard ceiling boards fireproof?
No. Isoboard is combustible and must be used within the conditions of its assessed applications. A product’s fire classification is not the same as a fire-resistance rating for an entire ceiling. Where fire performance is specified, the complete construction needs appropriate design and approval.
Are Isoboard and Summit XPS the same product?
They are different brands of XPS insulation board. When comparing quotations, check the named product, thickness, finish and supporting technical documentation. Our quotation should identify the product proposed for your installation.
How long will installation take?
Timing depends on the ceiling area, preparation, access and agreed finishing work. We discuss the expected programme after understanding the project. Include any move-in dates or business operating hours when you enquire.
